Carmen fled her native Mexico to escape brutal drug cartels. Filled with grief over her mother's death, she crossed the border illegally into the United States. When she was ambushed, border guard Aidan rescued her. On the run, the pair now travel to Los Angeles to visit Carmen's godmother, nightclub owner Masilda.
